Acute Care & Treatment for Kids
The Acute Child Inpatient Program at Spring Mountain Treatment Center provides acute care and stabilization for children ages 5 to 11 experiencing emotional and behavioral issues. Many of our patients struggle with issues such as attention deficit disorder, impulse control disorder, depression, behavior and thought disorders, bipolar and mixed mood disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Spring Mountain provides a supportive, caring environment that fosters growth, mental development, and emotional healing.
Upon admission, the child will receive a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and daily physician visits that will help the interdisciplinary treatment team put together an individualized treatment plan for the child. The team for the program is comprised of board-certified psychiatrists, nurses, therapists and mental health technicians. They utilize various modalities such as social skills building, play therapy, activity therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy to help kids learn new ways to build and nurture positive relationships.
Other program highlights include:
- Coping mechanism exercises to manage anxiety, anger, frustration and more
- Social skills building to alleviate anti-social traits
- Communication and connection with the child’s education system
- Emphasis on developmentally-appropriate treatment
- Group sessions to correspond with the child’s developmental capability
- Television for educational and therapeutic reasons only
- Structured bedtime routine
FAMILY PLANNING & AFTERCARE
As a parent or guardian, your involvement is vital to the success of your child. We strongly encourage family participation during family therapy, meeting with your child during visitation times, and communicating with the treatment team members. The team will work with families to develop discharge and aftercare plans that ensure long-term success and growth for the child through contact with outpatient services and resources in the community.
